Burned

The witches get to burn back in this retaking of the narrative where Librarians tell a new colleague of the book that killed so many, using motion graphic animation for the true tale-within-a-tale of the origins of The Malleus Maleficarum.

Still Here

When a little boy struggles to explain his drawing, an ordinary conversation with the woman he calls "Mom" unfolds into an exploration of the bonds that remain when a lifetime seems to slip away.

This actual interaction happened between a dear friend and her parent, and when she shared it, we laughed, as you must to make it through dementia, and we cried, as is required in equal measure.

The nurturing roles flip, and suddenly the child becomes the parent. This is a dance so many know. You cannot argue with your loved one’s new reality, yet you cannot help but mourn the version of them you knew. Somewhere in the midst of the ridiculousness and heartbreak, there can be a core of sweetness, of purity of heart that is so universally human that I think it bears capturing.

This is my attempt to do so.
